PhD position in Molecular Cell Biology

Our research group at the Interfaculty Institute of Cell Biology, Molecular Cell Biology Group, University of Tübingen, is looking for a highly motivated

PhD student (E13 TV-L, 65%).

This three-years position is part of the DFG funded project “Metabolic Control of the Cell Cycle” and is available from Dec 1st  2017 or later.

Our lab is interested in how cells coordinate metabolism, growth and proliferation. In the model organism yeast we investigate how cellular signaling ensures that biochemistry and physiology of the cell are coordinated; for example, how resources are allocated appropriately during growth and division. We also try to understand how cell cycle progression is affected by metabolic signals. We combine a variety of techniques but our focus is on quantitative live cell imaging and mass spectrometry.

Who should apply? Our work is interdisciplinary so we can accommodate candidates with backgrounds in systems biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics or related fields with a strong enthusiasm for science. Previous experience in microscopy, mass spectrometry, or yeast genetics is an advantage. Our lab language is English. Applications should include a CV and names as well as contact details of two references. Please send your electronic application to Jun.-Prof. Jennifer Ewald jennifer.ewald[at]ifiz.uni-tuebingen.de no later than Oct 8th 2017.

The University of Tübingen is an equal opportunity employer. Disabled candidates will be given preference over other equally qualified applicants. The University seeks to raise the number of women in research and teaching and therefore urges qualified women to apply. The appointment is facilitated by the central administration.
