Post Doc at Innate Immunity

Universität Hohenheim  70599 Stuttgart , Universität Hohenheim
Postdoctoral Position in Innate Immunity
The Institute of Nutritional Medicine, Department of Immunology at the University Hohenheim, Germany is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work in the field of Innate Immunity in the laboratory of Prof. Thomas Kufer. The position is available starting from May 2015 for two years with the possibility of extension.

The research interest of the Department is to understand the mechanisms used by the innate immune system to combat infection. In particular we are interested to decipher the mode of activation and the molecular signalling induced by a group pattern recognition receptors, the NLR-proteins.

We recently showed that members of the NLR family contribute to innate immune responses towards bacteria and viruses as well as to the regulation of MHC gene expression. Using molecular analysis combined with in vivo approaches, our current projects aim to further our understanding of the cellular biology of these proteins and their contribution to immune reactions in a physiological context.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification with distinction in biology, immunology, biochemistry or a relevant discipline. The applicant should have research experience in the field of immunology or molecular biology with a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics and/or biochemistry. A good publication record expected. A high level of motivation and creativity as well as proficiency in English and German speaking and writing skills and motivation to participate in teaching activities is required.

Written applications including motivation letter, current CV, copies of academic certificates and the names of at least two professional referees should be emailed till the 3rd of April 2015 as a single PDF document to p.retzbach@uni-hohenheim.de

Salary is dependent upon qualification and experience and will be determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement, along with your employment and social benefits. The position will be located in Hohenheim, Germany.

The University Hohenheim is an equal opportunity employer. The University Hohenheim encourages and welcomes interest from persons with a disability.
