Master Thesis in Plant Physiology

Our research group in the Department for Plant Physiology at the Center for Plant
Molecular Biology (ZMBP), University of Tübingen, is looking for a highly motivated
Master student.
We are currently working on casein kinases (CKs) potentially involved in the
brassinosteroid-dependent modification of the plasma membrane proton pumps
(AHAs) in Arabidopsis. The challenge of our work is to elucidate whether the CKs are functionally relevant for brassinosteroid-regulated cell elongation growth, and interact and phosphorylate the AHAs.
The project will include the following methods:
  • Gateway and classical cloning
  • Yeast two-hybrid and FRET-FLIM interaction assays
  • Molecular and physiological studies using CK mutants
  • Recombinant protein expression and purification
  • In vitro and in vivo phosphorylation experiments
